I'm reporting this bug because the package in summary fails to build when forcing --as-needed on through spec files (check out http://blog.flameeyes.eu/2008/11/14/problems-and-mitigation-strategies-for-as-needed for details). Check the attached build log. Thanks, Diego

Guys this is still there three and a half years later. The package is also ignoring ldflags, that's why it fails only with forced --as-needed.
Ignores CFLAGS as well (see configure.ac), claiming it breaks quantizer if you don't specify the individual flags (probably doesn't like a particular flag); it indeed looks like quite a mess, upstream also appears to be dead (since 2007).
