Description FieldySnuts 2003-07-18 16:47:08 UTC
app-games/liquidwar 5.5.9 segfaults when I move the mouse a little, but only on
the menu. Allegro then spits out errors. Like so:

Shutting down Allegro due to signal #11
Segmentation fault

This doesn't happen every time, but it does most times.

I am attaching the final 2000 bytes of an strace. The full strace is 3.8 MB, if
you really want it, let me know.

Now, for the emerge info that always gets torn up:

Portage 2.0.48-r1 (default-1.0, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.2.5-r2,2.2.5-r8)

oops.
Comment 4 FieldySnuts 2003-07-18 16:51:14 UTC
I also just noticed that it usually is left killable only by -9.
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-07-18 17:57:29 UTC
try it again but emerge liquidwar with CFLAGS=-pipe and CXXFLAGS=-pipe ...

if it still dies, try re-emerging allegro with same flags as above
Comment 6 FieldySnuts 2003-07-20 11:52:45 UTC
Okay. I used only -pipe on liquidwar , same problem.

I then used only -pipe on allegro , same problem.

Anything else I can do to assist?
Comment 7 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-06 23:33:23 UTC
Still no luck on this?

I have:
Portage 2.0.48-r5 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1)
CFLAGS="-mcpu=i686 -O3 -pipe"

on

System uname: 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) processor

And it worked for me with no problems. If you're still having problems I really
suspect the CFLAGS you're using - maybe on one of the other depending libraries.
Comment 8 FieldySnuts 2003-08-09 19:52:14 UTC
Yes, still problems.

Could be CFLAGS On a depensancy, which would be tedious to track down. Thanks for the help :)
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-08-09 20:00:21 UTC
well think you could try running it through gdb and see if you can clean useful
info from that ?
Comment 10 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-21 13:33:20 UTC
Without more information we CANTFIX this.

Joe, or anyone else who experiences this...go ahead and re-open if more
information becomes available.

Thanks.
Comment 11 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-08-21 23:24:36 UTC
could you try re-emerging allegro now ?

i fixed some compile options that were causing segfaults for other users of allegro ...
Comment 12 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-08-21 23:31:11 UTC
err since rsync has been messed up make sure that the allegro you merge has a
'sed' cmd in the src_unpack ... if it doesnt, you'll have to wait until rsync comes
back up
Comment 13 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-28 19:06:25 UTC
A week later...

Joe were you able to try out the latest version of allegro or shall I go ahead
and close this bug again?
Comment 14 FieldySnuts 2003-08-29 07:13:04 UTC

Comment 15 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-09-26 21:51:21 UTC
Joe - could you try running liquidwar with the development version of allegro?
That's 4.1.11.
Comment 16 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-02 16:43:08 UTC
Need user input to proceed.
