Description Richard Scott 2008-11-17 15:21:15 UTC
I've noticed that when emerging sys-block/partimage-0.6.7 a user is created:

 * Adding group 'partimag' to your system ...
 *  - Groupid: 91
 * Adding user 'partimag' to your system ...
 *  - Userid: 91
 *  - Shell: /sbin/nologin
 *  - Home: /var/log/partimage
 *  - Groups: partimag
 *  - Creating /var/log/partimage in /

Should this be created in /var/lib/partimage or some other directory for data?

Thanks,

Rich.

Reproducible: Always

Looks valid to me...

If it was a directory for logs then yes it would be valid.

However....

Logs go into the file: /var/log/partimaged.log

The home directory of the "partimag" user is for storing image data i.e. images of hard drives that are sent to the server and not for logs.

I believe it would make more sense in either /home/partimage or /var/lib/partimage IMHO.
