Description emdej 2008-11-15 09:18:09 UTC
I've recently changed mainboard and graphics card to i915 (onboard) and now after starting X the resolution is always (xorg.conf independently) 720x400. I was trying xorg-x11 7.2 and 7.3 and xorg-server 1.3 and 1.4, xf86-video-i810 2.1, 2.2 and latest 2.4.2. When gdm starts, it look terrible, height of fonts is nearly half of the monitor!
I can use xrandr to change resolution to 1280x1024 when X is running, but fonts are then still inappropriate.
I've found that X starts in normal mode when running gentoo live-cd 2007.0, so copied /etc/X11 from there - didn't help.. :(
Finally I've installed x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-1.6.5 and it helped.
I think it's a bug in video driver 2.* so 1.* ebuilds should not be hard masked.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Buy Intel GMA900 (i915) card.
2. Assemble it in your computer.
3. Instal default (2.*) driver.
