Description kfm 2008-10-12 23:44:44 UTC
The current version that is keyworded stable for most arches, 1.6.3-r1, suffers from the following two issues:

1) The configuration samples are not installed to /etc as expected
2) It depends on com_err/ss which has now been obsoleted by e2fsprogs-libs.
Therefore, attempting to install 1.6.3-r1 typically results in a block.

Therefore, I believe that it would be sensible to stabilise the latest revision which addresses both of these problems.
Comment 1 Michael Hammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-14 09:11:47 UTC
Ack
Comment 2 Brent Baude (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-14 20:49:53 UTC
There is a dep on e2fsprogs-libs-1.41.X which is ~ across the board. Should we wait for a stabilization request on that?
Comment 3 kfm 2008-10-15 11:42:14 UTC
Sorry, Brent - after helping another user to resolve the block, I was under the misapprehension that e2fsprogs-libs was keyworded stable at the time of filing. Obviously, it cannot be marked stable until e2fsprogs-libs is so I'm setting the resolution to LATER on this. To all of the arch testers, my apologies for the noise.

Michael, it would be great if you could fix the quoting in mit-krb-1.6.3-r{1,2,3} in the meantime (as you did in the -r4 revision):

- newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/krb5.conf krb5.conf.example"
- newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/kdc.conf kdc.conf.example"
+ newins "${D}"/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/krb5.conf krb5.conf.example
+ newins "${D}"/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/kdc.conf kdc.conf.example
Comment 4 Michael Hammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-16 06:29:39 UTC
I've fixed the quotings in 1.6.3(-r4). Did you run into problem Kerin?
Comment 5 kfm 2008-10-16 15:50:31 UTC
Hello Michael. To be clear, the problem was evident in all revisions I tried except for -r4 (where it had actually been fixed). The newins function expects two arguments. If all of the parameters are collectively double quoted then it is effectively passed only a single argument and does not work as expected:

/usr/lib64/portage/bin/newins: Need two arguments, old file and new file

The diff shown in the previous comment was intended to show how it had been fixed in -r4. Specifically, if the space between the two parameters is not encompassed within the quotes then all is well. So, if you revert the change to -r4, then make all previous revisions follow suit (where appropriate), that should be the end of that particular problem.
Comment 6 Michael Hammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-16 17:32:53 UTC
Sry - my mistake. My intention was the following:

- newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/krb5.conf krb5.conf.example"
- newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/kdc.conf kdc.conf.example"
+ newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/krb5.conf" krb5.conf.example
+ newins "${D}/usr/share/doc/${PF}/examples/kdc.conf" kdc.conf.example

I hope it's ok now - sry for the inconvenience.

g, mueli

mit-krb5-1.6.3-r4 needs to be marked stable before >=sys-libs/e2fsprogs-libs-1.41.0 can be marked stable.
