After updating to GIMP 2.6.0, I was not able to start it through the KDE menu anymore because that entry still had "gimp-2.4" as launch command. It should be "gimp-2.6". I chose "Applications" instead of "KDE" as component for this bug because I think it's a general problem, not KDE specific. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
I assume you have some locally installed .desktop-file, can you post the content of /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop ?
I updated to gimp-2.6.1 today and /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop is now correct; it launches gimp.2.6. Unfortunately, I updated before I checked my email and saw your reply here, so I didn't check the gimp.desktop of 2.6.0 :P I did had a local desktop file, but that was because I created one with the KDE menu editor since the system-wide desktop file was trying to execute gimp-2.4. I didn't check if there was already a local file even before that :P In either case, I can mark this as fixed :)
