Comment 2 Matthias Schwarzott gentoo-dev 2008-10-14 08:50:24 UTC
It seems one cannot install both, amarok-1.4.10-r1 and amarok-1.90-r1 with USE="-kdeprefix" at the same time.

BUT: They are in different slots.
Comment 3 Simon Bühler 2008-10-28 12:36:21 UTC
*bump*
same here, why is the slot setting ignored?
Comment 4 Matthias Schwarzott gentoo-dev 2008-10-28 20:18:33 UTC

It is not ignored. Portage knows that both amarok versions are in different slots -> It allows you to install them in parallel.

BUT: They may not install files in the same location, as portage cannot magically make this work. This is what this bug is about.

Comment 5 ~S 2008-10-31 13:08:24 UTC
confirm here, i just masked amarok for the time being
don't want to unmerge current amarok 1.4 and build amarok 1.9 only to find it doesn't suites my lightweight fluxbox setup
on a side rant, i had to mask kmix and konsole to 3.5 versions because 4.1 versions were looking horribly wrong with my default fluxbox desktop
one of these days you just have to mask newer versions till you find a way to customize them into your DE

~S
PS: using ~amd64 here
Comment 6 Martin Walch 2009-03-01 19:37:35 UTC
Still valid with media-sound/amarok-2.0.1.1 and media-sound/amarok-1.4.10_p20090130-r1.

Added blocks to the tree.
Comment 11 François Valenduc 2009-04-17 18:32:11 UTC
I don't understand why kdeprefix has been removed from amarok. The result is that 2 slotted packages can't be installed at the same time anymore probably until amarok:0 install it's files in /usr/kde/3.5.
Adding blocks doesn't solve the real problem.
Comment 12 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2009-04-17 18:38:21 UTC
The kdeprefix change is not what this bug is about. The issue raised on this bug has been addressed.
If you want to discuss the option to remove kdeprefix for non kde-base ebuilds, talk to us in #gentoo-kde or mail us to the kde@ alias.
