Description logan dethrow 2008-10-09 19:42:14 UTC
Occasionally over the last few days, I get a message saying that nepomuk-server has crashed. This occurs after logging out of KDE 4.1.2 and after all of the kde features have already disappeared. After the message is displayed, the logout process is halted until I tell the crash handler to close the program and continue.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click the K menu.
2. Select Shutdown or Logout. Allow KDE to autologout or select logout or shutdown from this menu
3. Wait for crash.

Actual Results:
The crash handler tells me that nepomuk server has crashed.

Expected Results:
KDE should logout and return to the KDM login screen.

Sorry about the lack of debugging symbols.

This is a known issue with +kdeprefix. We've yet to find out what's causing it, although I got a report that it's fixed on 4.1.6X.

I can confirm this issue for -kdeprefix as well.
Comment 4 logan dethrow 2008-10-15 18:44:31 UTC
Switching to -kdeprefix has tentatively fixed this issue for me. I'll keep updating if this happens again.
Comment 5 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2008-10-23 09:08:10 UTC
I still have this with KDE-4.1.2 in my box with kdeprefix, but stopped getting this on my box with -kdeprefix.
Comment 6 John Ratliff 2008-11-05 17:55:15 UTC
I never used kdeprefix and it is nearly always crashing for me. Even when it doesn't bring up the crash, KDM never comes back up. If I logout, I have to restart kdm.
Comment 7 Tobias Leupold 2008-11-10 09:41:44 UTC
Same problem here with KDE 4.1.3. Even if Nepomuk doesn't crash, I don't reach the KDM screen when I logout and have to kill the X server.
Comment 8 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2008-11-19 00:04:42 UTC
Still happening with 4.1.3 and kdeprefix - haven't tested with -kdeprefix yet.
Comment 9 Luis Aranguren 2008-11-20 02:22:29 UTC
It crashes for me too and I am not using +kdeprefix. It used to crash in 4.1.2 as well without kdeprefix.

Happen here too with 4.1.3 and no kdeprefix
Comment 11 Alex Alexander (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-08-01 15:29:13 UTC
Anyone with 4.2.4 -kdeprefix still experiencing this?
Comment 12 H. Peter Pfeufer 2009-08-01 15:32:41 UTC
No, here anything is running normally
Comment 13 logan dethrow 2009-08-01 16:29:45 UTC
This is fixed as of KDE 4.2.4
