Description thomas aime 2003-07-07 10:51:38 UTC
Hi,

I'm experiencing a kernel Panic when i try to boot my Sun Ultra AXI, 400 Mhz,
when booting from the CD gentoo 1.4 rc2, i pass the basic command "boot cdrom",
from the OBP prompt, it then loads the kernel, it properly detect the disk and
the CD, sym0:0, and sym0:6 but when it try to access it for the tar command and
chroot from the booting script it says : cdrom open failed, etc. ... up to
kernel panic ...

Help is welcome !!!

Best regards, thomas.

Hiya Thomas,

What interface does the cdrom use on the Ultra AXI (not familiar with it).

Hi,

There's a new experimental LiveCD on the mirrors called gentoo-sparc64-1.4_rc4-11Aug2003.iso.bz2 that should fix this problem. Please test and let me know how it works.

Thanks

From what I understand, the Ultra AXI depends on the SYM53C8XX driver, which is now included in the latest experimental LiveCDs. If you are still having problems, pleas re-open.
