The ping -w option is not documented in the relative man page, but works! Here is an extract from another man page (possibly of another OS): -w timeout Timeout in milliseconds to wait for each reply. I wonder if there are other options and why they are not documented
Hi, I have it in my man page: ... .... -w deadline Specify a timeout, in seconds, before ping exits regardless of how many packets have been sent or received. In this case ping does not stop after count packet are sent, it waits either for deadline expire or until count probes are answered or for some error notification from network. -W timeout Time to wait for a response, in seconds. The option affects only timeout in absense of any responses, otherwise ping waits for two RTTs. ... ... What version of net-misc/iputils do you have? I have net-misc/iputils-20071127.
I also have version 20071127, so it must be a translation bug. Please Cc this bug to Italian translation mantainers
Looks like an upstream problem to me...
yes, sorry for the wrong categorization... Does somebody know where to post this bug?
iputils doesnt provide translated man pages ... i dont know where you're getting the italian man page for ping try running: qfile /usr/share/man/*/man8/ping.8*
app-i18n/man-pages-it I had version 2.65, now installed version 2.80 but problem is still there. I will post a message in their mailing list.
