Example page: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ Firefox just freezes, does not respond anymore to anything. I have to kill -KILL it. It never crashes though.

This occurs always on the console before it crashes: az@bcomputer ~ $ firefox-bin firefox-bin: pcm_plug.c:67: snd_pcm_plug_close: Assertion `plug->gen.slave == plug->req_slave' failed.
I have alsa-lib-1.0.14a-r1 installed.
I have also some warnings with alsa-lib-1.0.16: az@bcomputer ~ $ firefox-bin ALSA lib dlmisc.c:118:(snd_dlsym_verify) unable to verify version for symbol _snd_pcm_empty_open ALSA lib pcm.c:2108:(snd_pcm_open_conf) symbol _snd_pcm_empty_open is not defined inside [builtin] ALSA lib dlmisc.c:118:(snd_dlsym_verify) unable to verify version for symbol _snd_pcm_plug_open ALSA lib pcm.c:2108:(snd_pcm_open_conf) symbol _snd_pcm_plug_open is not defined inside [builtin] But it works so far stable. So please add a dependency to a more recent alsa-lib-version.
Similar bugs: bug #230413 bug #222633 I'm not saying they're the same, though.
Please try the newest version, netscape-flash-10.0.12.36 It will be going stable soon and replacing version 9 due to security concerns (Bug #239543) If this does not solve your issue, we can investigate further.
I don't think it changes much. It was a dependency problem before, installing a new alsa-lib version solved the problem and probably also the new Flash version will work fine, as the old one does, too. But I can try the old outdated alsa-lib version later with the new Flash, to check if there is the same problem.

Hah, yes, I should have read the whole bug :) No need to check the old alsa-lib - I'm sure it's still broken. 1.0.16 is stable now, so I would hope most people have it. By the way, do you have net-www/libflashsupport installed?
New alsa-lib fixed this, so let's call it fixed :)
