Emerged Texmacs without error.  The application failed with the following error:

Fatal error: guile seems not to be installed on your system in 'install_texmacs'

but portage reports:

#emerge -p guile
 
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
 
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R  ] dev-util/guile-1.6.4

export GUILE_LOAD_PATH=/usr/share/guile/1.6

Why isn't the guile ebuild putting a file in /etc/env.d/ which sets GUILD_LOAD_PATH to the appropriate value?

This problem should be fixed in dev-util/guile ebuild

Fixed in guile-1.6.4-r1. Thanks :)
