Description Chuck Wegrzyn 2008-07-31 15:52:54 UTC
I ran "emerge virtualbox" and it failed complaining that it couldn't find libstdc++.a or the libstdc++ headers.

I also made certain that I had libstdc++ emerged into my system:

emerge --search libstdc
[ Results for search key : libstdc ]
[ Applications found : 3 ]

*  virtual/libstdc++
      Latest version available: 3.3
      Latest version installed: 3.3
      Size of files: 0 kB
Description: Virtual for the GNU Standard C++ Library
      License: GPL-2

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge virtualbox

Actual Results:
einstein ~ # emerge virtualbox

Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-31 19:59:33 UTC
You do not have built gcc with USE=nocxx by chance?
Comment 4 Chuck Wegrzyn 2008-07-31 20:34:23 UTC
GCC is built in a "standard" way. I haven't enabled 'nocxx' (given that UFED says not to change it unless you know what you are doing). Is this a requirement?
Comment 5 Markus Ullmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-08-10 14:19:31 UTC
virtualbox is bound to gcc3 series upstream wise
