When I install thinkfinger, and want to use the integrated fingerprint reader, I get the following output: tf-tool --acquire: (get fingerprint) Then it hangs with: Warning: usb_bulk_read expected to read 0x40 (read 0x20 bytes) I do not know why this happens, but I cannot store a fingerprint. Reproducible: Always
Have you tried loading the uinput module?
unfortunately, Yes I have done this. Users of the distri Ubuntu had also the same problems with thinkfinger: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thinkfinger/+bug/214404 I'm now working with libfprint and this works. So I could not help testing anymore.
I no longer have the hardware required to support ThinkFinger. I will schedule this software for removal as nobody seems to care about it. Sorry.
(In reply to comment #3) > I no longer have the hardware required to support ThinkFinger. I will schedule > this software for removal as nobody seems to care about it. Sorry. I can take care about it (have the hardware and use the software), as porxy if Victor is still interested. Can we stabilize this package, please (STABLEREQ bug)?! Michael
Hi Michael, I maintain this package with Tony Vroom (Chainsaw) doing proxy commiting for me. I only have a Dell XPS M1530 to test the package, so you are welcome to test it too. Anyway I think this package will be replaced sooner with libfprint, which seems a more polished package, and supports more devices, but libfprint has a problem it's not on portage. So maybe you can write and ebuild for it Michael (if you are interested, of course) and start maintaining it so we can do a migration from thinkfinger to libfprint,pam_fprint, and fprintd. Let me know what you think.
Also upstream it's a Gentoo developer, (dsd@gentoo.org AFAIK), so it's easier to solve bugs, and contribute with patches.
