ebuilds of old software / old versions are frequently removed from the tree.  Reverting back to an old version of a package after an upgrade or an accidental uninstall can be difficult if the package or version is removed from the portage tree.

Proposed Feature:  Portage feature flag to allow storage of installed ebuild files in an overlay for later usage.
