It seems that the HAL property info.bus has been removed in 0.5.11. That property was used by gpilotd to detect devices added via HAL. The latest code in gnome-pilot SVN adds an extra check for the pda.platform property. I'm attaching a patch which adds that extra code. Reproducible: Always

I am experiencing this problem on my system as well. I created the attached modified ebuild that applies the patch from gnome-pilot SVN already attached to this bug to solve the problem for myself. I'm going to attach it here in case anyone else finds it useful.
