Description bo 2008-07-04 19:23:49 UTC
After emerging x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.501 it is unable to load fglrx module:
# modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.25-gentoo-r6/video/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted

As i know these problem occurres when there is radeon or drm module loaded, but i disabled them in kernel (and enabeled all things from gentoo how-to)
Module Size Used by
yenta_socket 20748 4
rsrc_nonstatic 8320 1 yenta_socket
iw2200 121160 0

Reproducible: Always

ati-drivers-8.501 fglrx module loads for me but drawing breaks if I run something accelerated under WINE. Maybe this version should be masked.

i've found now, that ATI drivers do not support old cards (older radeon 9200 or something like that).
So i should use great open source MESA drivers and wait until people from ATI-AMD make new driver for old cards & new kernels like NVIDIA-legacy
