Pidgin refuses to log me into my AIM account, with the complaint "The client
 version you are using is too old.  Please upgrade at http://pidgin.im/"

I'd guess we need one of the 2.4 versions to get stable.

Look at bug #230045 - 2.4.3 is stable for all but one arch. Unless you're a ppc user, I'd say this bug cannot be fixed. :)
