Description Greg Trigg 2008-06-24 16:04:46 UTC
I'm unable to update world due to a conficting dependency for faad between gst-plugins-faad and ffmpeg.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge --sync
2.emerge --update --newuse --deep world
3.

Actual Results:
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating world dependencies -
!!! Multiple versions within a single package slot have been
!!! pulled into the dependency graph:

media-libs/faad2:0

  ('installed', '/', 'media-libs/faad2-2.0-r13', 'nomerge') pulled in by
    ('installed', '/', 'media-plugins/gst-plugins-faad-0.10.5', 'nomerge')

  ('ebuild', '/', 'media-libs/faad2-2.6.1-r1', 'merge') pulled in by
    ('ebuild', '/', 'media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20070616', 'merge')

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the
dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be
installed simultaneously.

Expected Results:

I'm still having the problem. I don't know if the mirrors have been updated yet.
Comment 4 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-24 21:18:46 UTC
I've removed gst-plugins-faad-0.10.5 from Portage, and moved -r1 to stable which should allow any version of faad2.

gst-plugins-faad-0.10.5-r1.ebuild:RDEPEND=">=media-libs/faad2-2
gst-plugins-faad-0.10.6.ebuild:RDEPEND=">=media-libs/faad2-2

The explicit dep on =faad-2 it used to have, was a mistake anyway.

So yeah.. please sync, and check mirrors etc.
