Description Chris Ribble 2008-06-22 05:47:38 UTC
After installing ati-drivers-8.501, every time I try to launch an OpenGL game in with Wine, my screen become a mesh of alternating horizontal lines and fails to respond to any input. My only recourse is to restart the X server. Once I do this, everything is back to normal again until I try to launch another game.

Going back to ati-drivers-8.493 resolves the issue and I am able to play games again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install ati-drivers-8.501
2.Launch an OpenGL game in Wine
3. Observe alternating horizontal lines corrupting screen.

Actual Results:
OpenGL games unplayable in Wine (server freezes)

Expected Results:
Game playable.

Try to remove /etc/ati/amdpcsdb. This might help.

Assuming Michaels comment my be helpful otehrwise you better ask AMD/ATI for support. Nothing we can do wrt. closed source packages.
