Can you rerun the failing test in verbose mode to show the location of the valgrind error?

In the build tree:

cd tests
./runtest ./termgentest -v tg_spell1

 Of course I can.
Comment 5 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2008-07-06 19:00:58 UTC
x86 stable, no problems here (tested on 2 different boxes).
Comment 6 Olly Betts 2008-07-07 00:02:03 UTC
Sorry for the slow reply, failed to add myself to Cc: so didn't get notified of comment #4.

This is a false positive - for efficiency zlib deliberately overreads buffers, which valgrind (reasonably) reports as an error, but actually isn't a problem.

Usually you don't see this as valgrind includes supressions for these errors (and we ship some with Xapian too, for variants which valgrind doesn't ignore by itself).

Looking at Christian's stack trace, and the suppressions Xapian includes, the issue seems to be that the stacktrace has /lib/libz.so.1.2.3 whereas the suppressions have /usr/lib/libz.so.1.2.3 - not sure why that might be. Are you passing -L/lib explicitly or something like that?

(The "possibly leaked" messages aren't problems either - that's due to how std::string is implemented in GCC's STL).
