Description Alexander Hsia 2008-06-15 00:52:10 UTC
New f-spot version is out now: 0.4.4

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Denis Dupeyron (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-16 10:29:20 UTC
Working on it. However gtk-sharp 2.12 is blocking this, see bug 211339.

Denis.

I was to fast to reply. F-spot works but after I made a "emerge -DNuav world",
emerge complained that other packages were depending on different version on gtk-sharp/glade-sharp which was in a same slot. Namely eg. gconf-sharp was depending on 2.10.0 version.

Can we get the fix for this bug patch backported for the new 0.4.4 ebuild? The bug, which exists in my current version as well (0.4.3.1), means that PicasaWeb doesn't work at all if you don't have any existing Picasa albums, and crashes f-spot.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=541140
http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/f-spot?view=revision&revision=4138

I'd attach a patch, but viewvc is crap </vent>. It's only a 1 line in each of 2 files, one of which is just a version bump, plus some ChangeLog.

Just tried this out and am getting a complaint...

# emerge f-spot -a

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-dotnet/gtk-sharp-2.12.1".
(dependency required by "media-gfx/f-spot-0.4.4" [ebuild])

...is this available in an overlay of some sort?

The bug even depends on the same bug.
So you can get the needed ebuilds from #211339.

Hope this helps,

Does indeed, apologies for not picking up on that. Only scanned the thread and didn't notice that.

Do we really need this ? And don't bother about the ebuild, I have one ready but I'm waiting for the dotnet stuff to be fixed before committing it.

Using the gnome-overlay - yes. And stable gnome is near so it is better to include it now that have a spam of bugreports later.

And the ebuild with fix
Comment 19 Kerie 2008-09-18 19:54:43 UTC
Actually, f-spot 0.5.0 has been release on September, 18. From their mailing list:
"The minimal dependencies should be as they were for 0.4.4. But if you
want to build for gnome 2.24, you'll probably need gtk-sharp 2.12.3"
Comment 20 Steve Herber 2008-09-19 06:14:17 UTC
version 0.5 has been released.
I took the 0.4.4 ebuild and renamed it to 0.5.0 and I got this error when I tried to install it:

emerge --ask --verbose --deep f-spot

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies /
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-dotnet/gtk-sharp-2.12.1".
(dependency required by "media-gfx/f-spot-0.5.0" [ebuild])

As this bug relies on bug #211339, which is a version bump of gtk-sharp to 2.12.1, look there for an e-build. Once you get that, everything should compile fine.

f-spot version 0.5.0.1 has been released. It fixes a crash on startup and a few other problems.

By now version 0.5.0.2 has been released, fixing a vast memory leak leaving (at least) the export to folder plugin useless. I will attach an updated e-build, as from version 0.5.0.1 the Makefile.am patch is not needed anymore.

Ebuild for 0.5.0.2

E-build for 0.5.0.2 (which is the 0.4.4 one, without the Makefile.am patch)

the ebuild 0.5.0.2 works for me. though only with -j1, but it compiles and works.

f-spot-0.5.0.3 is now in portage, package.masked in preparation for the great mono-2 /gtk-sharp-2.12.6 unmasking.
