When you report about emerge -pv, please provide the compleet output of the command. We need to see all flags: features in between [], versions, and USE flags (the flags there will not reflect what is configured in make.conf, but the actual flags used for compile time, that may differ from make.conf in case you filled /etc/portage/package.use for example). This would also avoid the use of esearch. But a major update is on the way, because of many security issues; 2.4.3 is already on way for stabilisation (we cant wait 30 days; this is an urgent update). Keep an eye on bug #230045 .
