To fix the issue, I need to add >=x11-libs/gtk+-2 in DEPEND but s390 block (see #223441)

Cédric you don't. You just need to distribute gtk-2.0.m4 file along with package. If you wait a bit I'll commit fix (I was in process of testing it :))

Fixed in mtr-0.73-r1.ebuild. Thank you for report Andrei.
