My immediate reaction is that the proposed fix may work for the wolk kernel (or whatever else patched-up kernel tree), but break for the users using other kernels, such as vanilla 2.4 sources.

Don't know why the dupes were created.Weird. I was viewing the bug and 
reloaded the page changes had been made as it had been assigned to 
bug-wranglers. Just was interested in who it would be assigned to. It should not 
have created these. Was not reposting form data. Really weid. Rebooted.
