Having emerged net-www/mozilla-firebird-0.6-r2 I typed about:plugins in the address bar. The resulting page showed no plugins. Then typing 'ls -l /usr/lib/MozillaFirebird/plugins' showed that it was just a directory with only libnullplugin.so and no other plugins in there. /usr/lib/MozillaFirebird/plugins should be a symbolic link to /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins/ by default. This bug has been filed before as bug 20762 and was resolved in phoenix-bin-r2 but seems to have reappeared again. I am not sure if this applies to mozilla-firebird-bin-0.6 but it would certainly be worth testing. $ emerge info Portage 2.0.48-r1 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 1200MHz GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://194.83.57.3/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ rsync://ftp.belnet.be/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/share/config /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" USE="x86 oss 3dnow apm avi encode gif jpeg mmx mpeg ncurses pdflib png quicktime truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib directfb berkdb slang readline bonobo svga java X sdl tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python imlib oggvorbis gtk motif opengl cdr aalib apache2 dvd fbcon imap maildir mysql nptl pcmcia pnp sse tiff usb xml -arts -crypt -cups -gpm -kde -libg++ -mikmod -nls -qt -spell -gtkhtml -gdbm -guile -esd -gnome -mozilla" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" MAKEOPTS="-j3" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.uk.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" FEATURES="sandbox distcc ccache"
I have just tried mozilla-firebird-bin-0.6 and it does in fact symlink /opt/mozilla-firebird/plugins to /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins so that works fine.
Fixed in -r3
