Description Markus Duft (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-24 06:29:48 UTC
libXpm does not seem to build without gettext, so a dependency would be required. At least I got an error about libintl.h not beeing found.

Could you attach a build log, please? This is probably a required dependency that shouldn't actually be there and needs a fix. Something like it happened for libXt.

hmm... i have only one system where this was seen (since there is no gettext in the system, and gentoo is running as prefixed installation). i now emerged gettext and continued. the problem is, that this (now that i finished setting it up) is a production machine :)

(of course i could still reproduce the problem, but it will take some time.)

Also i'm not sure if a build log would use that much. it broke because it couldn't find libintl.h, shouldn't that be rather easy to find?
Comment 3 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-25 17:46:29 UTC
Well, it's probably going to be somewhere in the autotools mess than in the actual build (assuming in broke during configure, which you didn't really specify one way or the other).

If you're on a production box, you probably want to be logging every build with PORT_LOGDIR in make.conf. I'm surprised you don't already.
Comment 4 Markus Duft (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-28 06:25:54 UTC
hm. this is a windows box running a prefix as build environment for our software. if this is up and running once, it won't be touched in a while, so no, for me there is no need to log portage related things...

i don't know if it's an autotools problem, nobody else had this so far... i hope i'll have time to reproduce sometime.
Comment 5 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-30 17:39:52 UTC
Probably nobody had it because almost everyone has gettext installed. Anyway, I'll see if I can get a patch upstream.
