Description Thomas Scheiblauer 2008-04-23 09:42:53 UTC
Since the upgrade to baselayout-2 and OpenRC (according to the upgrade guidelines) I cannot establish a ppp connection using /etc/conf.d/net and initscripts any more. It still works when calling pppd with the same parameters manually. I'll attach my configuration and the connection log.

I'm having the same problem. After upgrading to baselayout-2.0.0 and openrc-0.2.2, I am no longer able to dial out using net.ppp0 init script. Dialup also still works for me if I use KPPP.

/var/log/messages

First part is starting net.ppp0. Second part is when the on demand connection is initiated.
Comment 6 Matthew Schultz 2008-04-24 05:50:15 UTC
Also, I used to be able to specify more than one phone number in /etc/conf.d/net but I'm unsure of the syntax now.

before:

phone_number_ppp0=( "1234567" "1234568" )

Current is which syntax?

phone_number_ppp0="1234567 1234568"

or?

phone_number_ppp0="'1234567' '1234568'"
Comment 7 Matthew Schultz 2008-04-24 05:52:55 UTC
Did this change as well?

/etc/ppp/chap-secrets & /etc/ppp/pap-secrets:

#Old way
username\@myisp\.com * duhPassword

#New way??
"username@myisp.com"      *       "duhPassword"

Is this still a problem on the latest openrc?
Will close 2011/01/01 if no response.

There has been no response, so this is being closed.

Just encountered the same problem... For historical purposes, it would be good to note, that removing 'updetach' option from pppd_ppp0 should fix this issue (at least it did for me).
