I just moved to baselayout-2.0.0 and my /etc/init.d/net.eth0 is gone. I do not know what has happened. I re-created the softlink. The same problem. I took /etc/init.d/net.eth0 from machine with baselayout 1.12.12, and edited /etc/conf.d/net to fit new syntax (net.example comes with openrc)... But I probably made something wrong, and new /etc/conf.d/net doesn't work. So I'm now initializing my network iface with net-setup from live-cd and finding correct solution.
there is already a workaround in place for this, but it requires certain versions to be installed before the upgrade. just recreate the symlink by hand
It's also documented in the migration guide, which www.gentoo.org and the ebuild suggest you read when installing this package. In some edge cases, the symlink may disappear and there are instructions to re-create the symlink. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/openrc-migration.xml Closing invalid since we migrate this for users and have it documented.
