Description Horacio Hiroiti Sawame 2008-04-03 12:30:27 UTC
I compiled openoffice-2.4.0 and noticed an strange error 529 (is not listed in "Error Codes in OpenOffice.org Calc").

Ex.:
A1="1"
A2="2"
A3=A1+A2="3"

The result is ok if A1 and A2 cells contain numbers but if a not number is placed I got "Err:529" .
A1="*"
A2="2"
A3=A1+A2="Err:529"

If I use A4=SUM(A1;A2) the correct (zero should be assumed for not number cells) is got.
This not happens with openoffice-2.3.1-r1 and before.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open oocalc;
2.put a number in a cell (A2=2), a not number in another (A1=g), and define a arithmetic operation with both (A3=A1+A2);
3.

Actual Results:
A3=Err:529

Expected Results:
A3=2

I quote the go-oo-mailing list:

"As we discussed in person at GoOOCon, this is an intended behavior in
line with what Excel does. I had discussion with Eike about this, and
it's likely that the upstream will adopt this behavior for better
interoperability with Excel."

See this thread for more information:

Closing in line with upstream policy
