Description Stefano Pallicca 2008-04-03 07:59:32 UTC
The 2008.0_beta1 live cd locks when the X server is started. I only see black screen and the CD spins and stops continuousy

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Stefano Pallicca 2008-04-03 08:00:54 UTC
This lock happens on an acer travelmate 8104 (ati radeon mobility X700, radeon driver loaded automatically by the installing procedure)

If you boot the CD with 'nox' and then use 'X -configure' and 'X -config /root/xorg.conf.new', does that give you a black screen, too?

Xorg log

I've attached my Xorg log after booting with "nox" option and following your instructions on comment #2. Same black screen as booting normally

Can you look at bug #144238 and see if setting Option "MonitorLayout" helps you?

X11 guys: any ideas here?

I don't own/use ATI hardware, so I'm not very good at troubleshooting it. Could it also possibly be something to do with MonitorLayout like bug #144238 ?

Specifying

Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS, NONE"

as stated in bug #144238, X launches and the resolution is good as well.
