Description Christophe LEFEBVRE 2003-05-23 13:22:56 UTC
There is no kernel in Gentoo 1.4 RC 4 then I do "modprobe ppp_generic" (for
example) in order to install my alcatel speedtouch modem for install Gentoo
from the Internet. It is strange because you talk about the kernel in the
documentation.

its quite impossible to boot linux without a kernel...
Youll need to explain better as i have no idea what your talking about.

				Thanks

Exactly, thereis a kernel to boot Gentoo Linux. But, to install my Alcatel Speedtouch modem, I need some modules (ppp_generic for example) which they are not in the loaded kernel.
Then, I have an interest to have a lot of modules in the loaded kernel or a full kernel source (like the previous versions of Gentoo) in the stage 3. Yes, the tutorial talk about a kernel in the stage 3 and there is no kernel in the stage 3 of the version 1.4 RC 4.
