I should also note that emerging xulrunner -java didn't help. :( I only put the version bump in there because it was related to trying to fix it (it didn't!) will file a new one for the bump. # emerge It try to get a fresh version of xulrunner, it's probably not related to Liferea but the Mozilla stuff and java. bug is reported here : https://bugs.launchpad.net/democracy/+bug/98725
