Description Chris Ripp 2008-03-25 14:54:48 UTC
crashes on trying to reed certain feed items....

ran with --debug-all, and got this as the last few lines....
DB: item update took 0,001s
GUI: set read status took 0,007s
DB: loading item 177543 (thread=0x80bdbd8)
DB: loading item 177543 (thread=0x80bdbd8)
TRACE: + htmlview_render_item
DB: loading item 177543 (thread=0x80bdbd8)
TRACE: - htmlview_render_item
GUI: itemlist selection took 0,087s
TRACE: - itemlist_selection_changed
liferea: symbol lookup error: /opt/sun-jdk-1.6.0.04/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so: undefined symbol: PR_NewMonitor

I saw a bug on the ubuntu lists re: pr_newmonitor and something about nspr/nss, but I can't seem to resolve this. re-emerged liferea, nspr, nss, and sun-jdk, and bumped liferea to 1.4.14 in /usr/local/portage to see if it would cure it. (and revdep and --newuse as well)

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] dev-libs/nspr-4.7 USE="-debug -ipv6" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] net-news/liferea-1.4.14 USE="dbus firefox gnutls gtkhtml libnotify networkmanager xulrunner -debug -lua -seamonkey" 0 kB [1]
[ebuild R ] dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0.04 USE="X alsa examples nsplugin odbc -doc -jce" 68,805 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-libs/nss-3.11.9 USE="-utils" 0 kB

maybe I've got some weird use flag combo thing going on. *shrug*

I'm unsure what exactly in a feed entry is even causing this crash. the output isn't exactly helpful.

I'm going to try re-emerging xulrunner -java to see if maybe that's where the problem lies.... will report back.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try to read certain items in liferea (exact conditions unk.)
2.
3.

Post your emerge --info output; also file a separate bug about version bumps, completely unrelated here. Thanks.
Comment 2 Chris Ripp 2008-03-28 13:07:08 UTC
I should also note that emerging xulrunner -java didn't help. :( I only put the version bump in there because it was related to trying to fix it (it didn't!) will file a new one for the bump.

I don't use or have java on any of my machines at the moment, so I'm not sure I can track this down. Adding java@ to see if they have any insights.

I've pretty much the same bug and setup. It try to get a fresh version of xulrunner, it's probably not related to Liferea but the Mozilla stuff and java.

bug is reported here :
