Description Kelly Shutt 2008-03-21 23:43:14 UTC
It seems that noone is maintaining the app-admin/mon application in portage anymore. The 0.99 version is ancient and has newer releases availible at http://mon.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page. I have included an updated ebuild for app-admin/mon; as well as a new ebuild for dev-perl/mon-client, which replaces the old dev-perl/Mon application.

The app-admin/mon ebuild has the new dev-perl/mon-client application as a dependency. However, I don't know how to do blocking so there's no collision rule for the old dev-perl/Mon application, which does NOT work with the updated versio and should be removed when installing the new perl module.

This is my first ebuild, so please excuse me if it's not perfect. I can confirm that the ebuild is installed and working on a production server without any problems.

I'm confused..

Can dev-perl/Mon & dev-perl/mon-client be on the same system or not? app-admin/mon needs dev-perl/mon-client and NOT dev-perl/Mon? Please clarify and I will add this. Sorry for the delay, I hope you are still interested in helping!

The two ebuilds I have added here are the ones that go together. However, you have to remove the old dev-perl/Mon ebuild or they won't work right. Like I said before, I'm not sure how to do blocking so that it warns you about the conflict with the older perl module. Hope that helps.

Peace,
Kelly

Ok, so you just need !dev-perl/Mon in the ebuild. Please test it out and let me know if it works for you.

ping! kelly, did darksides modifications work for you?

thanks

0.99.2 depends on dev-perl/Convert-BER.
1.20 does not.

dev-perl/Convert-BER is "no longer supported" from upstream.

It should be the other way around. dev-perl/mon-client needs !dev-perl/Mon.
