Description Sandro Bonazzola 2008-03-17 21:38:46 UTC
* QA Notice: The following files contain runtime text relocations
 * Text relocations force the dynamic linker to perform extra
 * work at startup, waste system resources, and may pose a security
 * risk. On some architectures, the code may not even function
 *  properly, if at all.
 * For more information, see http://hardened.gentoo.org/pic-fix-guide.xml
 * Please include this file in your report:
 *  /var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs-20080316/temp/scanelf-textrel.log
 * TEXTREL usr/lib32/libxvidcore.so.4.1

the scanelf-textrel.log will follow as attachment.

Will stay there until upgraded to >=xvid-1.1.3-r2, see Bug 135326 for the entire mess.

imho, emul- pkgs should be built with USE="pic" enabled

OK, in the next round I will build xvid with USE pic. Thanks

This is now workarounded with Samuli's suggestion, it is not a real fix but we cannot do much more until bug 258804 is fixed. Decreasing priority then
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-01-29 17:29:52 UTC
Well, this will be solved when bug 258804 is, until then, we cannot do much more
