Description Martin von Gagern 2008-03-16 16:36:50 UTC
It would be great to have an ebuild for mod_caldav, in order to add CalDAV functionality to Apache, to share calenders from sunbird/lightning or other applications.

I tried to write an ebuild myself, but failed, because mod_caldav depends on mod_dav_acl. A simple ebuild for the latter tends to fail with a message hat I should run libtoolize, even if I added _elibtoolize from the autotools eclass to the src_unpack function.

I also don't know how to deal with these modules being autotooled, whereas apache-module.eclass seems to rather use APXS with some sources as arguments instead of the common configure/make procedure. My intention was to try the autotooled aproach first, find out what make and make install does in that scenario, and then try reproduce this with functions from apache-module.eclass.

mod_dav_acl: http://sourceforge.net/projects/moddavacl/

this needs a rather huge patch for apache which i cannot review right now ... the mod_dav_acl author should push that to apache upstream probably

Has there been any progress made on this?

None from me. mod_caldav has by now reached 0.1.8, but it still depends on mod_dav_acl (now at 0.1.4) which in turn still ships some patches which are not included in the Apache httpd SVN trunk. So this patch is still the crucial point and has to be included either by the apache people or at the distro level.

What's the state here? Which other ways are there to setup an CalDAV server in Apache?

No change since comment #3 except for the version number.

> Which other ways are there to setup an CalDAV server in Apache?

Maybe DAViCal from http://davical.org/ which is also available from the sunrise overlay. Refer to bug #195118 for details and any problems you encounter.
