Description Karl Newman 2008-03-10 15:01:05 UTC
mythweb.pl should be made executable on install, to work with the ExecCGI directive in the configuration file (for streaming recordings). Otherwise, a server misconfiguration error is shown.

I can confirm this bug. Apache 2.2.8 with vhosts and mythweb-0.21_p16468. This is not the first version to have the problem.
Comment 2 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-17 02:49:56 UTC
Since the script is installed in htdocs and not cgi-bin by MythTV upstream, it's by default not executable due to the potential security considerations. I'll have to discuss this with others prior to making a change.
Comment 3 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-02 14:57:03 UTC
After discussing this with the Gentoo Security team, this change won't be made because it would result in a security issue when installing out of the box. It'll just be added as an einfo
Comment 4 Roger 2008-10-11 19:06:16 UTC
woo. Now I'm seeing this bug occur on mytharchive.

I just installed/upgraded mytharvhive w/o any issues.
Sun Oct 5 02:58:01 2008 >>> media-plugins/mytharchive-0.21_p18355

... and I am showing the emerge pulling mytharvhive from my ./distfiles and not remotely. So...
Comment 5 Roger 2008-10-11 19:07:35 UTC
ok. duh. my bag again. (as usual)

emerge grabs from:
repository: http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/branches/release-0-21-fixes/mythplugins@18355

This looks more of an extremely current issue. I'm sure if somebody hops on even IRC and mentions this, it'll get fixed recursively fast.
Comment 6 Roger 2008-10-11 19:14:29 UTC
... Just irc'ed this to the #mythtv (Developers) channel. ... as it's an SVN commit issue, hopefully somebody should see this a lot sooner.
Comment 7 Roger 2008-10-11 19:16:01 UTC
<sorry. strike my last three comments. misfiled and are meant for another bug.>
Comment 8 Pierre-Yves Rofes (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-16 21:54:49 UTC
removing security@, nothing left to do here.
Comment 9 Karl Newman 2009-11-18 05:52:40 UTC
This ebuild still could use an einfo telling how to resolve this issue.
Comment 10 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-07-10 04:27:28 UTC
Newer versions worked around the issues and have solved them. Marking this fixed as a result.
