Description Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-03-06 16:43:43 UTC
I have long suspected sys-apps/attr and extended attributes enabled for actively used filesystem drivers to be responsible for making the kernel unstable. I have no clear evidence as I unmerged it from my stable system a while ago. I have since seen better stability, so I ask you, other members of the team, to help test it. If you find a specific bug, then please file a separate report and make it block this one.

Actually, the same goes for ACL related kernel code and userland tools (sys-apps/acl).

sys-fs/e2fsprogs-1.40.8:

r_inline_xattr: shrinking filesystem with in-inode extended attributes: failed

This isn't ever going to be fixed, it seems. Meanwhile, USE=acl, xattr will be masked for HPPA.

Could still remove some keywording though...
