Description Sebastian Hase 2008-02-12 18:08:06 UTC
Adding a 32-bit elfutils, in particular libelf.so.*, to app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs would be nice. It is needed e.g. to build the nwmouse or nwmovies plugins for the game Neverwinter Nights. They does not work with an 64-bit libelf.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

I've got a CoWare SPD installed (x86 only, very expensive CAD package), it needs 32b libelf as well.
Comment 2 Vladimir Smirnov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-06 15:45:30 UTC
A lot of proprietary software, like Cadence Virtuoso needs 32 bit libelf.so
Comment 3 Trevor Bowen 2009-11-30 17:05:35 UTC
I also am trying to run Cadence Virtuoso (IC6.1) on a Gentoo platform, but it fails with this message:

ic6.13.515/tools/dfII/bin/32bit/virtuoso: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have worked around the problem by copying the requisite libelf files from a RHEL 5.3 box, which leaves me feeling dirty.
