I'm attaching an ebuild for 1.7.1, the latest version at this time. I added the 'dev-libs/openssl' dependency. I see there is a maintainer wanted, and I'm willing, though I've never done that before. I use this program regularly as part of my job.

Ebuild for 1.7.1, fix dependencies.

Ebuild 1.7.1, adds the dev-libs/openssl dependency. I can't make the old attachment obsolete.

If somebody of you decides to maintain this package I can suggest you to commit this package into sunrise overlay. All information about overlay is available at their wiki:

http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/wiki

In short: sunrise is a users overlay where developers will look after your commits. If you are interested you can contact sunrise team at #gentoo-sunrise channel you contact me directly (by mail or again in irc).

Works with 1.8.2.

I'm maintaining an ebuild of it in my own overlay. I'd be happy to maintain Gentoo's official if given access.

It is possible through proxy maintaining which means you maintain and I commit changes to the tree. Please make ebuild to fit Sunrise Coding Standards (see reference in comment #5), drop redundant in EAPI=4 || die, make sure repoman full has no warnings and then remind me (better by mail) to review your ebuild again.

I also had a copy in my overlay for some time, and I've just added sslscan 1.8.2 from there to the main gentoo tree.
