sine development of new windowmaker versions needs much time the latest ebuild available is from octobre '02. so it will be nice to have windowmaker-cvs in portage course their latest cvs-version is from 20030420. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Because of which features/bugs do you think this is necessary?
The snapshot you were talking about is already gone. As long as there are no fixes for noticable bugs or important improvements someone really needs, I see no sense in shooting at moving targets. If you can tell me any, I'll think about it again.
I don't have anything to do with the WindowMaker ebuild but i did a really hacky CVS ebuild for personal use. The huge problem is that WM depends on Xft 1.x includes and XFree4.3 has only Xft2 installed. The WM Devs are currently not porting it to the latest Xft. You can build it with --disable-xft though but you lose AA support. I did an ebuild for personal use which not only uses some ugly patches but also lots of sed in the source and some include files from Xft v1. I can offer it for download so you can put it into your local overlay. Ofcourse a hack like this would never go into gentoo maintree. http://www.netswarm.net/wmaker-cvs-ebuild.tar.bz2 I've built with wmaker CVS-20030520 and theres absolutly *no* warrenty about it! Btw. there are many improvments and new features over 0.80.2
Previous had some issues, this one also allows the configuration of the Fonts with WPrefs.app: http://www.netswarm.net/wmaker-cvs-ebuild-2.tar.bz2
Great! I've been hoping someone was going to write an ebuild for this. Thank you.
Darn, it does not work. Seems to cvs username is no good. WindowMaker's cvs is expecting the user 'anoncvs 'and not 'anonymous'. I cant locate any info on the ECVS eclasses, where are they? Why dont you just use the snapshots? ftp://ftp.windowmaker.org/pub/source/snapshots/
Sorry, ECVS_USER="anoncvs" fixes it (I had to guess at the ECVS var...got it!). -P
thank you very much. i have no problems (at the moment ;p) with the cvs version of windowmaker and i like it very much. so again thank you for the ebuild
Heres an updated version which contains 19 patches with various fixes and new features. (mostly taken from vlaad, peter and voins from the #windowmaker channel) http://www.netswarm.net/wmaker-cvs20030602-ebuild.tar.bz2 I hope for a clean 0.81.x release soon. If that wont happen i'll do a clean cvs snapshopt based wmaker ebuild which can go into mainportage. This hacky CVS live ebuild is just to test and comes without warrenty and problems with can only be fixed by programming C are useless anyway.
they updated the cvs lately, so the patches are, i think deprecated. they won't apply anymore and i am running windowmaker-cvs with this newer cvs snapshot for some days now and haven't experienced any problems yet so here is the ebuild originally submitted by Christian Birchinger excluding the patches now.
Created attachment 13679 [details] windowmaker-cvs
Thanks for that. The last build had a problem with one of the patches missing but I was too busy to file the report ;-) This one works great. -P
I don't have time to look at the gnustep/windowmaker stuff at the moment :(
For those who want the old version where the patches still worked: http://bff.netswarm.net/gentoo/wm-cvs-ebuild-20030602.tar.bz2 It is snapshot-based and doesn't use CVS. (distfile included) They are integtaring many patches into CVS now. Maybe in some days no patches will be needed anymore. (Except transparent menu and new buttons maybe)
Latest version based on latest CVS and with all the needed patches: http://bff.netswarm.net/gentoo/wm-cvs-ebuild-20030629.tar.bz2
Builds/works perfect.
I get sig 11's when running this latest cvs build. There are also a couple of default configuration options that need to be update as well... Still looking into this.
i've tested the build + patches with the 20030706 cvs build as well and I still get sig 11s
too unstable.... all the way up to 20030810... i'm closing this bug as wontfix due to the lack of ability to get a quality build from the snapshots....
