Make that, request for Mozilla 1.4rc1, now...
And very soon, Mozilla 1.4
However, updating a 1.4rc1 ebuild to 1.4 would probably be quite trivial.
Comment 3 Narada Sage 2003-06-03 17:09:42 UTC
I am waiting for 1.4 final release before either this bug is updated or new one is submitted and from what I hear this should be very soon. There is no point making any changes before then.
Comment 4 Patrik Kullman 2003-06-29 09:42:49 UTC
At least, shouldn't Mozilla 1.3.1 have its own ebuild?
Mozilla 1.4 RC3 should have a development/testing ebuild, IMHO..
Comment 5 Brad Laue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-29 10:32:51 UTC
Mozilla 1.3.1 was a fix for MacOS X only, so updating it on the Linux platform would be pointless.

A significant issue is that there are a fair number of fixes/patches which are applied to Mozilla in the ebuild for each release, and the time taken to consider each of these for inclusion or update them would take sufficient time for Mozilla 1.4 final to be released.

If 1.4rc3 were placed in the tree masked, would this be satisfactory? Placing it in ~arch drops it on the userbase without giving them much choice.
Comment 6 Narada Sage 2003-06-29 10:38:04 UTC
According to the following article Mozilla 1.4 is due for release on Monday which is tommorrow.

http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=3338

So there is no point in spending time putting anything less onto portage as yet. Users, please be patient for release of 1.4 which will be soon.

1.4 Released!
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.4/
Rejoice!
I *was* waiting patiently up until your comment of 06/03 that you were waiting for official release. At that point I rm -rf'd /usr/lib/mozilla and untarred a nightly.
But, looking forward to using the ebuild again.

Oh, and this bug's title is now out of date...

1.4 is now in cvs
Comment 10 Paul Slinski 2003-07-07 13:34:29 UTC
The 1.4 ebuild that just came down the pipe fails. Would you like a a (seperate) bug report?
Comment 11 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-07 23:19:30 UTC
pauls: yes please
Comment 12 Brad Laue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-08 03:06:43 UTC
No need, already fixed, and moved into ~arch

Thanks for the input on this, folks
Comment 13 Paul Slinski 2003-07-08 06:30:42 UTC
Martin, the it's bug 24100

Cheers!

The current ebuild for Mozilla 1.4 failed to compile for me. It seems that the C shell is being required.

It stops with the following messages:

ranlib libipc_s.a
../../../config/nsinstall -R -m 644 libipc_s.a ../../../dist/lib
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.4/work/mozilla/extensions/ipc/src'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/mozilla-1.4/work/mozilla/extensions/ipc'
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: ./makemake: /bin/csh: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

!!! ERROR: net-www/mozilla-1.4 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 388, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
