Not sure who pulls it in, but I hit that one during automated building. 6.8.2 would be installed by default ...

dev-haskell/quickcheck-1.0 depends on =dev-lang/ghc-6.4.2 through =dev-lang/ghc-6.4* rdepends on =dev-lang/ghc-6.4.2 through =dev-lang/ghc-6.4*

looks like the trigger.

Comment 1 Duncan Coutts (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-01-17 01:15:55 UTC
It requires an older gcc. It will not work with gcc 4.2. Probably 4.1 is the latest that'll work with ghc-6.4.2. There is no plan to fix ghc-6.4.2 to work with newer gcc since newer versions of ghc do work with newer gcc. The best we can do is adjust the deps or do a check and bomb out. What would people suggest as the best option?

You can't adjust dependencies for this in any way; you can just make the ebuild die on incompatible gcc version.

Closing as WONTFIX, as tree has newer stable ghc-6.8.x which should not have such troubles.
