Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-14 08:06:59 UTC
Just drop WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest" from the ebuild...
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-14 08:11:00 UTC
And drop WANT_AUTOCONF as well... the whole problem is that it's defined in completely wrong place, would have to be *above* inherit autotools if needed (since you need the latest of both, the eclass already does that)
Comment 3 Ed Wildgoose 2008-02-25 20:40:17 UTC
In this particular case the automake tools are trying to use version 1.9, but this doesn't seem to be installed for this user. I just ran into the same situation and of course installing automake-1.9 fixes everything (as the error message hints).

It appears that although you requested the latest automake to be used, it falls back to the version used to generate the ac files?

Not sure how this should be fixed though?
Comment 4 Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2008-03-02 00:50:36 UTC
Jakub is right about the autotools functions; they won't be invoked unless you move them up above the "inherit" line. Can you try the updated version on this bug?

Thanks...
Comment 5 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2008-06-02 19:57:42 UTC
the autotools functions aren't required at all, I've removed them from 2.37.
