Seems to still happen on amd64. This is just missing the x11-misc/xkeyboard-config as a dependency? At least emerging that before e-uae fixed it for me. Longer version: configure has the following loop before the failure: for xkb_rules_dir in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules /usr/lib/X11/xkb/rules /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/rules On a fully laden desktop machine the directory exists and has some files, while in a minimal amd64 chroot I (and your scripts?) tried to compile in, it doesn't (none of those directories exist).
