when compiling programms for different AVR MCU types /usr/libexec/gcc/avr/ld can't find the linker scripts: $ avr-gcc -g -Wall -O2 -mmcu=atmega8 -Wl,-Map,demo.map -o demo.elf demo.o /usr/libexec/gcc/avr/ld: cannot open linker script file ldscripts/avr4.x: No such file or directory while an other instruction set seems to work (??? avr2 (default) ???): $ avr-gcc -g -Wall -O2 -mmcu=attiny24 -Wl,-Map,demo.map -o demo.elf demo.o possible workaround is a symlink: $ ln -s /usr/lib/binutils/avr/2.18/ldscripts . $ avr-gcc -v Using built-in specs.
