Description Peter Fox 2007-12-27 08:10:14 UTC
Recently when trying to run glob2 (games-strategy/glob2-0.9.1) over the network I find it crashes or locks up. Just to be clear - this is the first time I've tried to run this version of glob2 over the network.

The only clue I have is if I run glob2 from the command line I get the following message after the hosting glob2 blows up:

glob2: /usr/include/boost/shared_ptr.hpp:315: T* boost::shared_ptr<T>::operator->() const [with T = YOGGame]: Assertion `px != 0' failed.

This happens when the other player attempts to connect to the host machine - the other player's glob2 doesn't crash, but reports that the host is not ready.

I updated boost from 1.33.1 to 1.34.1 to see if that helps, but it didn't. (On the machine that builds with gcc-4.2.2. The other machine is still on gcc-4.1.2).

When I downgraded to 0.8.23 at both ends it worked fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.On machine A: start glob2, click LAN game, host a game, say Migration
2.On Machine B: start glob2, click LAN game, join a game
3.Notice on machine B game is not in list, so enter hosting machine name in box, then enter.

Actual Results:
Machine A bails out, reporting
glob2: /usr/include/boost/shared_ptr.hpp:315: T* boost::shared_ptr<T>::operator->() const [with T = YOGGame]: Assertion `px != 0' failed.

Expected Results:
At step 3 the hosted game should be in the list of games to join.
Network play should start when the game selected.
