Description Jakob Schiotz 2007-12-21 10:27:37 UTC
vmware-workstation-5.5.5.56455 (the latest stable on amd64) cause the host to lock up with kernel 2.6.22-gentoo-r9 or higher, but not with kernel 2.6.20-gentoo-r8. It typically happens when running Internet Explorer in the guest (Windows XP). The whole machine locks up.

This may be the same as bug 189062 although that refers to vmware-server. In that case the bug is certainly not fixed yet.

/Jakob

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start vmware-workstation, boot into Windows XP
2. Run Internet Explorer
3.

Actual Results:
The whole machine locks up, logging in across the network is not possible, only the off switch works.

I am running on a dual core Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with 64-bit linux installed.
The guest operating system is a 32-bit Windows XP SP2.
