Description Carlos Cordoba 2007-12-07 10:26:21 UTC
Ubuntu has a python script called asoundconf to change the default alsa sound card for all video and audio applications as user. It is pretty useful if, for example, you want to use usb speakers in your laptop but you plug and unplug them very frequently.

I've found other solutions to do this, but they are not as simple as using asoundconf.

Reproducible: Always

I've created this simple ebuild to extract the asoundconf script from the ubuntu .deb and install it in a gentoo system. I've tried it in my system and it works perfectly.

For more gui oriented people, I've created this ebuild to use asoundconf-gtk which, as its name implies, is a very simple gtk application to use asoundconf. It was created by Ubuntu too.
