Hello, I have mentioned this to tgall yesterday and he told me to recompile glibc. Unfortunately this didn't fixed it. The problem is that sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2 fails to compile: {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:85: Warning: Unary operator - ignored because bad operand follows {standard input}:85: Warning: zero assumed for missing expression {standard input}:86: Error: Unrecognized opcode: `bi' {standard input}:96: Error: Unrecognized opcode: `bi' {standard input}:1199: Error: unassigned file number 2 looking a the asm file created with -save-temps it looks like the bi is garbage at that position. removing -mcpu=power3 -mtune=power3 from CFLAGS fixed the problem for me.
for later versions of gcc this is fixed. For the older profiles it's an issue. I'll remove and we'll target a new minimal gcc version for 2008.0 where this isn't a problem. Regards, Tom
